Introduction

Beer  is one of the oldest and most widely consumed alcoholic beverages in the world. Interestingly, it is the third most popular drink after water and tea. Beer is made by fermenting a mixture of grain, hops, yeast, and water. The simplicity of beer formation is one of the reasons it is widely popular and that each nation has their own type of beer.

At least forty-five states in the U.S. produced beer in 2019, and in each quarter, nine states produced more than one million barrels of beer. For instance, between July and September 2019 California produced 5.4 million barrels of beer.

As a whole the United States produced 180,195,678 barrels of beer in 2019, according to the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau. One barrel is equivalent to thirty-one gallons of beer.
