Introduction
The United States, otherwise known as the melting pot, is home to countless numbers of immigrants from the early European settlers, to the immigration of Southern and Eastern Europeans, to the migration of people throughout the Asian continent.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there were 19.9 million Asians living in the United States in 2020. Asians make up the fastest-growing racial group within the United States, with a growth of 81% between 2000—2019. 24% of Asians living in the United States are from China, 21% are from India, 19% are from the Philippines, and 10% are Vietnamese. By 2065, Asians are projected to become the largest immigrant group in the United States, surpassing Hispanics.
By region, 45% of Asian Americans live in the Midwestern United States. 24% live in the Southern United States. 19% live in the Northeastern United States, and 12% live in the Midwestern United States. As a group, Asian Americans make up 5.7% of the total population of the United States.
