Most Religious States

Religiosity dates as far back as mankind. While there have been strictly religious nations and wholly secular ones, each has had a certain part of its people that practice religion. Historically, the Southern part of the United States has been known as the “Bible Belt” and the most religious part of the nation.

According to a 2018 Gallup Poll, 45% of Americans in the Southwest and 43% of those in the Southeast considered themselves “very religious,” based on how important religion is to them and how often they attend religious services. The regions that have the least percentage of very religious citizens are New England (26%) and the Pacific (29%).

Learn for yourself which states are the most religious by exploring the data in the charts.
