Introduction
Life expectancy is the statistical measure of how long the average person is expected to live, from birth to death. Life expectancy is affected by many factors, such as gender, diet, lifestyle (exercise or lack thereof), and other societal factors such as crime rates for example. Outside of events like the pandemic, the main factors influencing life expectancy in the U.S. is the access to quality healthcare and the levels of obesity in the country as well as how these vary from state to state.
In the U.S, the average life expectancy is 76.66 years, a number that has recently decreased as a result of the COVID 19 pandemic. However, this is only the national average, as each state has a different life expectancy because of the different conditions within them.
