Introduction

Corn is not only the backbone of American agriculture but also that of the U.S. economy. Corn makes up the largest share of agricultural goods produced on American soil. America, the world’s largest corn producer, brings in more than $3 billion in taxes and about $47 billion in economic output by producing corn every year. The U.S.-China trade war from 2018 to early 2020 decreased the overall corn production as a majority of U.S. corn exports had been shipped to China. However, after the trade war thawed and the U.S. having since diversified its corn export markets to Southwest Asia and South America, the U.S. corn production has bounced back to increase again.
