Introduction

The consumption and production of wine is an activity that stretches back to ancient times. Today, wine is one of the most widely consumed alcoholic beverages around the world, and is available in many different types. Wine is made from fermented grapes, and comes in varieties of white, red, or rose. Within these three types of wine, there are further subdivisions, generally associated with the place the grapes were grown, as for example Bordeaux wines, which bear the name of the Bordeaux region in France.

Asian countries enjoy wine made from rice, like Sake and Soju, which are very popular in Japan and Korea, and have an equally long history of consumption alongside their Chinese counterparts.

Finally, when it comes to wine production, each country that produces it today has either had a long history with its production or learned the methods from those who did. The most famous wines in the world still come from Europe, with the leading two producers being France and Italy.
