Introduction
Most people would agree that the most romantic states in America are those where couples show their love and commitment more often. Nevada is the clear winner of our State of Romance index, boasting the highest marriage rate in the country combined with a relatively low divorce rate (10.66%). This suggests that when you think about which state is most likely to be swooning with romance, Nevada should come to mind first as it seems that its residents are dedicated to long-lasting relationships.
The data from our index also showed that Nevada residents communicate mainly with happy emojis, suggesting that they’re a generally content and satisfied community – which again speaks volumes for how strong their collective relationships are. Further evidence of how romanticized this US state is can be seen in the amount spent on gifts for Valentine’s Day; Nevada ranked fourth-highest out of all 50 states in this category. Also, when it comes to overall happiness and openness to love, Nevada ranks fairly well too – both indicating an affinity for romance.
Other contenders for being one of the most romantic states include California, Hawaii, and Florida – all three boast impressive marriage rates and low divorce rates. Arizona follows close behind with a 9.14% divorce rate; however, its communication scores were not as high as those of other states mentioned here. The same can be said about North Dakota and Montana – both boast above-average marriage rates but they’re let down by lower-than-average communication scores.
In summary, when looking at which states have proven themselves capable of sustaining strong relationships over time, our State of Romance Index found that Nevada was undoubtedly the most romantic state in the nation – its high marriage rate coupled with its positive communication scores suggest a community devoted to maintaining healthy relationships over time.
