Introduction
Alfred Nobel is the man for whom the Nobel Prize received its prestigious appellation. Alfred Nobel was a Swedish businessman, chemist, engineer, industrialist, and philanthropist. Apart from leaving his fortune to establish the Nobel Prize, Nobel is also a fruitful inventor. One of his many inventions is dynamite. The Nobel Prize is rewarded annually to individuals who have done the most for the benefit of humanity. There are six Nobel Prizes awarded every year, and one award is given for each of those six categories. The categories for which a person can win a Nobel Prize are economics, literature, peace, physics, chemistry, and physiology or medicine. The different Nobel Committees are in charge to nominate the candidates and award the prizes to the winners.
The Nobel Prize was first awarded in 1901, and since the award’s inception, there have been more than nine hundred Nobel Prize laureates. The countries with the highest total Nobel Prize winners can be considered to have greatly contributed to humankind. The preponderance of Nobel Prizes in a given country is a good indicator of its social, economic, and cultural prosperity.
