Most Educated Countries

Education is no longer just kept for the wealthy and nobility as more people are literate than ever; however, education is still not universal. Countries that are still developing typically have less formal education than their developed counterparts, mostly due to the cost of instituting a country-wide education program. That is not to say that wealthy countries are always the most educated.

While every country has its own unique education system, they all share common features. The levels of education, though they may possess different names, follow the same course: primary education (the first six to eight years); secondary education; and post-secondary or tertiary education (such as college or university). Still, not every person in a country will follow the same path, some will leave the education system at different points to pursue a vocation, employment, military service, or something else.
