Introduction
The United States is a diverse landscape of climates and weather patterns, with a range of humidity levels across its regions. The Rocky Mountain region tends to be the least humid place in the U.S., with some areas having an average relative humidity ranging from 50%-55% throughout much of the year. On the opposite end of this spectrum are states like Louisiana and Florida which tend to experience higher rates of humidity due to their tropical climates. In general, most coastal areas tend to experience higher humidity due to oceanic influence while inland areas tend to be significantly drier. For example, while some cities in Arizona may reach 90+ degrees during summer months, their relatively dry climate keeps them comfortable despite their extremely high temperatures. This is why Arizona is often referred to as a “dry heat” state compared to Florida and Louisiana where high temperatures combined with high levels of humidity can make for uncomfortable conditions during hot summer months.
