Brice Turang and Jackson Chourio of the Milwaukee Brewers were named 2026 National League Gold Glove Award winners. The honors come four days after the Brewers won their first World Series championship.
Why it matters
The awards recognize defensive excellence for two Brewers players in a season that ended with the franchise's first World Series title. Turang is the only Brewers player to win at second base since 1969.
Turang recorded 23 defensive runs saved, second-best in the Majors, and 19 outs above average. Chourio posted 13 Defensive Runs Saved among NL left fielders, an error-free season, and eight outfield assists, a career high.

Season Trajectory
Turang's honor is the first Brewers second-base Gold Glove since 1969, placing him among the franchise's rare defensive honorees. The awards follow the team's first World Series title, adding individual recognition to a championship-winning season.
Turang's and Chourio's awards add defensive credibility to the Brewers' roster heading into the offseason. Fantasy managers weighing 2027 drafts may factor in Turang's elite range and Chourio's arm and outfield-assist value.
The takeaway
Defensive value often goes underappreciated in player evaluation, and these two awards highlight how advanced metrics like Defensive Runs Saved and Outs Above Average capture contributions beyond the box score. Readers following the Brewers can use these measures to assess defenders more fully.
