The Tennessee Titans have traded defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons to the Chicago Bears on Thursday. The deal nets Tennessee two first-round picks and one fourth-round pick.

Why it matters

The Chicago Bears acquired the veteran to boost their defensive front after reaching the NFC Divisional Round last season. Conversely, the move signals a roster shift for the Titans, who hold only one win this season.

Simmons recorded 67 tackles, 17 tackles for a loss, and 11 sacks during the 2025 season. He is a four-time Pro Bowler who signed a three-year contract extension prior to this season.

The details

The Titans move comes after Simmons played seven games this season for the team. Solomon Thomas and Jackie Marshall are now expected to step in as potential replacements for the defensive tackle position in Tennessee.

The trade was officially announced on October 29, 2026.
Simmons recorded 38 tackles and four sacks during the 2026 season.
Simmons earned first-team All-Pro honors during the 2025 season.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are scheduled to play the Tennessee Titans in Week 17.

Season Trajectory

This trade marks a significant shift in the competitive landscape as the Chicago Bears look to replicate their run from the 2026 NFC Divisional Round. For the Titans, the move reorients their season toward draft capital accumulation amid a difficult year.

The departure of Simmons removes a key interior presence from the Nashville defensive rotation immediately. Fantasy managers and fans should adjust expectations for the Tennessee front seven's ability to stop the run and pressure opposing quarterbacks.

The takeaway

The acquisition of multiple early draft picks indicates the Titans are prioritizing long-term restructuring over immediate wins. Fans should monitor how the defensive scheme adjusts without a cornerstone presence on the line.
