Velocity Vehicle Group has completed its acquisition of New West Truck Centres, bringing seven locations into the Velocity Truck Centres Canada network. The New West sites in Calgary, Balzac, Red Deer, Lethbridge, Taber, Medicine Hat and Cranbrook sell and service Freightliner and Western Star trucks.
Why it matters
The deal expands Velocity's footprint in Western Canada, where New West had served southern Alberta and British Columbia trucking customers since 2014. For Canadian fleet operators in the region, the combined network offers broader parts, service and collision repair coverage.
Seven New West locations and about 300 team members have joined Velocity Truck Centres Canada, which now has roughly 1,000 employees across 24 locations. The network claims the largest dealer coverage of any group in Western Canada.
The players
Velocity Vehicle Group
Velocity Vehicle Group is a North American commercial truck dealership group that operates a network of heavy-duty truck sales and service locations.
New West Truck Centres
New West Truck Centres is a Western Canadian heavy-truck dealership that sold and serviced Freightliner and Western Star trucks in Alberta and British Columbia.
The details
New West Truck Centres, which sold and serviced Freightliner and Western Star trucks along with providing parts and collision repair, is now part of Velocity Truck Centres Canada. Velocity entered Canada in 2023 with the acquisitions of First Truck Centre and P&R Truck Centres, and this deal extends that expansion.
Timeline
2014: New West began serving southern Alberta and British Columbia trucking customers.
2023: Velocity entered the Canadian market with First Truck Centre and P&R Truck Centres.
November 3, 2026: Velocity announced the completed acquisition of New West Truck Centres.
Roadmap
Velocity's 2023 entry into Canada with First Truck Centre and P&R Truck Centres set the groundwork for this larger Western Canadian footprint. The New West acquisition continues that consolidation of independent heavy-truck dealers into a multi-province network.
Fleet operators in Alberta and British Columbia may now find parts, service and collision repair for Freightliner and Western Star trucks under one larger dealer network. The extraction does not indicate any change to pricing or service terms for existing customers.
The takeaway
Consolidation among heavy-truck dealers can broaden service coverage for fleet customers, but operators should confirm that their existing service agreements and warranty support carry over. Watching how the New West locations are integrated will show whether the expanded network delivers faster repair access.
