AEW Women's World Champion Mercedes Mone shared two video clips from her match with Kairi Sane on her Instagram story. Sane, released by WWE in April, is currently a free agent.
Why it matters
The posts revisit a rivalry that began when Mone debuted for NJPW in 2023 and ended Sane's 90-day IWGP Women's Championship reign. The clips draw attention to the history between two wrestlers now on separate paths.
Sane has held three WWE Women's Tag Team Championships and one NXT Women's Championship, and her IWGP Women's Championship reign lasted 90 days before Mone defeated her at NJPW Battle in the Valley in February 2023. The source does not provide viewership or commercial metrics for the clips.
