Littelfuse has introduced two new transient voltage suppression (TVS) diode arrays, the AQ4315-01ETG and SP4315-01WTG, designed for high-speed electronics. These components offer robust electrostatic discharge protection while maintaining ultra-low capacitance to preserve signal integrity.

Why it matters

As high-speed electronic interfaces continue to utilize lower signal voltages, providing effective ESD protection becomes increasingly difficult. Conventional TVS diodes often introduce parasitic capacitance that compromises signal quality, a challenge these new arrays are engineered to overcome.

The new arrays feature a clamping voltage of 6.5V at 7A peak surge current with a maximum leakage current of 50nA. The AQ4315-01ETG operates from -40°C to +150°C and supports ISO 10605 automotive standards.

The players

Littelfuse

Littelfuse is a global manufacturer of circuit protection, power control, and sensing products for the automotive, industrial, and electronics industries.

The details

The AQ4315-01ETG is housed in a 1.0 × 0.6mm SOD-882 package, while the SP4315-01WTG utilizes a smaller 0.63 × 0.33mm 0201 wafer-level chip-scale package. Both devices provide protection against ±15kV contact and ±20kV air ESD strikes per IEC 61000-4-2 testing standards.

The Tech Race

These components reflect an ongoing industry push to balance higher performance speeds with the shrinking physical footprint of modern electronic devices. By meeting standards like AEC-Q101, these parts signal a drive to integrate advanced ESD protection directly into the automotive electronics market.

These components enable smaller and faster consumer electronics by providing robust circuit protection without adding bulk or slowing down data transmission. For engineers, the use of these standardized packages simplifies the design process for compact, high-performance circuit boards.

The takeaway

Technological advancements in TVS diodes are essential for maintaining signal integrity as devices become faster and more compact. Engineers designing modern interfaces should prioritize low-capacitance solutions to ensure reliability while meeting global automotive and safety standards.
