Wrestling stars Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin, known as the Motor City Machine Guns, appeared at the House of Glory Salvation event in New York City. The duo remains signed to All Elite Wrestling following their debut earlier this year.
Why it matters
The appearance highlights the ongoing presence of major wrestling talent on the independent circuit while under contract with national promotions. It also leaves questions regarding their next scheduled appearance on All Elite Wrestling programming.
The Motor City Machine Guns secured a victory over the Skywalkers at the Windy City Warfare event on September 25. Their current tenure with AEW follows a departure from WWE earlier in April 2026.
The players
Alex Shelley
He is a veteran professional wrestler and one-half of the Motor City Machine Guns.
Chris Sabin

All Elite Wrestling
It is a major American professional wrestling promotion based in Jacksonville, Florida.
The details
The duo competed at the NYC Arena on October 9, 2026, following their official entry into the All Elite Wrestling roster in late July 2026. Reports suggest the pair prioritized a tour for their band GRPPLNG before committing to their full AEW run.
Timeline
April 2026: The duo was released from WWE.
Late July 2026: The team made their AEW debut on Collision.
September 5, 2026: They wrestled their first official bout as AEW talent.
September 25, 2026: The team defeated the Skywalkers in Chicago.
October 9, 2026: The duo performed at the Salvation event in New York City.
Season Trajectory
This performance fits within the broader shift where major wrestling promotions allow contracted talent to perform on independent cards. It reflects a strategy that maintains independent scene relevance while managing the scheduling of full-time performers.
The appearance of the Motor City Machine Guns on the independent circuit provides fans with a chance to see prominent talent outside of their primary national television slots. It does not immediately alter the standings or current title picture within All Elite Wrestling.
The takeaway
The Motor City Machine Guns continue to balance high-profile national obligations with independent appearances. Fans should watch for updates on the duo's status as their band tour concludes and they re-enter the AEW competitive rotation.
