Why it matters

The hiring activity signals continued expansion of the high-intensity, low-impact workout brand in the Bethesda area, where it already operates two studios. The Kentlands lease extends its footprint into Gaithersburg within Montgomery County.

Solidcore has operated two Bethesda studios for more than a decade, with its first Maryland studio opening at Wildwood Shopping Center in January 2016 and its second Bethesda studio opening on Wisconsin Ave. in March 2016. The Pike & Rose studio's exact location and opening date have not been disclosed.

The players

Solidcore

A high-intensity, low-impact fitness brand offering Pilates-inspired full-body strength workouts on resistance-based machines, now expanding across Maryland.

Kimco

A major shopping center real estate investment trust whose leasing documents show Solidcore taking over space at the Kentlands location.

Market Landscape

Solidcore's expansion follows its 2016 Bethesda openings, when it entered suburban shopping centers at Wildwood and Wisconsin Ave. The new Pike & Rose and Kentlands sites extend that strategy across Montgomery County.
