Ravens' Fagnano Wears Brace in Start Prep
Undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano wore an ankle brace during pregame warmups before his first NFL start against Jacksonville.
Updated on Nov. 6, 2026 in Football
Baltimore rookie quarterback Joe Fagnano wore a brace on his right ankle during pregame warmups at M&T Bank Stadium. He was in line for his first NFL start against the Jacksonville Jaguars after Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley were both placed on injured reserve.
Why it matters
With Baltimore on a three-game losing streak and its top quarterbacks sidelined, the Ravens' offense rests on an undrafted rookie. The trade for veteran Jacoby Brissett adds a second option behind center.
Fagnano completed 10 of 21 passes for 91 yards in his relief debut at Buffalo, while Jacksonville's run defense allows 77.4 yards per game. The Ravens' quarterback situation remains unsettled heading into Thursday night.
The players
Joe Fagnano
Ravens rookie quarterback who played college football at Maine and UConn before going undrafted.
Jacoby Brissett
Veteran NFL quarterback acquired by Baltimore in a trade this week to shore up its depth chart.
Baltimore Ravens
NFL franchise based in Baltimore that plays its home games at M&T Bank Stadium.
The details
Fagnano, an undrafted rookie who transferred from UConn after starting at Maine, was a full participant in Tuesday's practice. Baltimore acquired Jacoby Brissett on Wednesday, with Brissett expected to take over when the Ravens host the Los Angeles Chargers on Nov. 16.
Timeline
Tuesday: Fagnano was a full participant in practice.
Wednesday: Baltimore traded for Jacoby Brissett.
Thursday: Baltimore faces Jacksonville on Thursday Night Football.
Nov. 16: Brissett expected to start against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Season Trajectory
Baltimore's season is being shaped by the absence of its starting quarterbacks, as the Ravens try to avoid extending a three-game losing streak. Teams facing similar quarterback shortages often rely on veteran trades or rookie emergency starts to stay in the playoff picture.
Fantasy managers should note that Fagnano's rushing and passing workload could be limited by the brace on his right ankle, and that Brissett's arrival could shift targets for Ravens pass-catchers. Watch the status of the Thursday night matchup against Jacksonville before setting lineups.
The takeaway
Quarterback depth is the difference between a bad week and a lost season, and Baltimore's move for Brissett shows how quickly a front office must respond to injuries. Readers tracking the Ravens should watch how Fagnano handles the early snaps before judging the trade.
What happens next
Baltimore hosts the Los Angeles Chargers on Nov. 16, when Jacoby Brissett is expected to take over at quarterback.
