MEYLE Launches HD Brake Disc for EVs
The new disc covers 12 electric vehicle references and is designed to pair with a Low-Met brake pad.

MEYLE has introduced an HD brake disc across 12 part references developed for electric vehicle applications, including a laser-treated friction surface and enhanced corrosion protection. The company announced the launch in a press release dated November 4, 2026.
Why it matters
Regenerative braking reduces how often friction brakes are used, making corrosion protection and disc-pad pairing more important for electric vehicles. MEYLE says the Low-Met pairing takes brake particle emissions into account as Euro 7 comes into play.
The HD disc is offered in 12 references and carries a four-year HD guarantee. Its friction surface is laser-treated and it is supplied without an oil coating.
The players
MEYLE
MEYLE is a German automotive aftermarket supplier of brake and chassis components, headquartered in Hamburg.
The details
The HD disc uses a gray cast iron base and has enhanced corrosion protection on non-friction surfaces, ventilation channels where specified, and flange areas. Because it ships without an oil coating, technicians do not need to degrease the friction surface before fitting.
Timeline

Roadmap
The launch reflects how EV braking is changing: regenerative braking reduces friction brake use, so disc corrosion and pad pairing matter more. MEYLE positions the Low-Met pairing against Euro 7 brake particle emission considerations.
Shops fitting EVs may find the HD disc needs no degreasing before installation, simplifying the fitting process. The four-year HD guarantee gives owners a stated warranty period for replacement.
The takeaway
For EV owners, brake component choices increasingly matter for corrosion and emissions, not just stopping power. Checking that disc and pad are matched as a set can help keep braking performance consistent.
