Brembo Unveils Lighter GP4 Caliper for 2027
The redesigned caliper and new carbon-ceramic disc aim to cut weight and improve braking performance across motorcycle racing.

Brembo unveiled a redesigned GP4 brake caliper for the 2027 MotoGP season at EICMA 2026, along with the Hyction carbon-ceramic brake disc. The company also showed its first braking products for side-by-side vehicles.
Why it matters
Lighter and stiffer braking components can change how racing teams manage weight and braking response at high speeds. The new caliper is fully compatible with the current system, which may ease adoption for teams already running Brembo hardware.
The GP4 caliper is 75 grams (2.6 oz) lighter per unit and about 5% stiffer than the prior version. Each Hyction carbon-ceramic disc is 450 grams (15.9 oz) lighter than a steel road-superbike disc, with up to 40% less inertia.
The players
Brembo
Brembo is an Italian manufacturer of high-performance braking systems widely used in motorsport and road vehicles.
The details
Brembo's Hyction disc is derived from the CCM-R technology the company uses in hypercars and will be used in the FIM Superbike World Championship from 2027. The company also introduced SSV upgrade kits for the Polaris RZR Pro R and Can-Am Maverick R, which have been used in the Baja Aragon and Baja 500.
Timeline
November 2, 2026: Brembo announced the EICMA 2026 product unveilings.
2027: The GP4 caliper debuts in the MotoGP season and the Hyction disc begins use in WorldSBK.
Roadmap
The Hyction disc carries carbon-ceramic technology from Brembo's hypercar line into motorcycle racing, extending a materials approach previously confined to four-wheel performance cars. The move also brings Brembo into off-road side-by-side vehicles, a segment where high-performance braking upgrades have grown alongside recreational off-road racing.
Riders and racing teams gain access to lighter, stiffer braking hardware that is compatible with the existing Brembo system. Off-road drivers can upgrade caliper and disc kits for the Polaris RZR Pro R and Can-Am Maverick R.
The takeaway
Lighter braking hardware is moving from the racetrack toward everyday performance vehicles, and riders who upgrade should check compatibility with their existing setup before buying.
What happens next
The GP4 caliper is scheduled to debut in the 2027 MotoGP season, and the Hyction disc will be used in WorldSBK from 2027.
