Govindan Nair won $1 million in the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire draw, becoming the 286th Indian national to win the top prize. Dubai Duty Free announced the winners at a Diwali celebration at Concourse B of Dubai International Airport.
Why it matters
The draw has run since 1999, and Indian citizens form the largest group of its ticket buyers, making the winners a notable milestone for that customer base. The prize also reflects how the promotion now sells tickets online alongside its airport and duty-free sales.
Official draw results put Nair among 286 Indian nationals to win the Millennium Millionaire $1 million prize, while Indian passengers make up 13 to 14 per cent of Dubai Duty Free business. The total ticket count and winning odds for this series were not disclosed.

The takeaway
Long-running prize draws can produce winners years after entry, so regular participation in a single promotion may pay off over time. Buyers should confirm ticket terms and eligibility on the official promotion site before purchasing.
