Infomina Secures Broadcom Software Appointment

Malaysian technology group Infomina Bhd has secured a five-year appointment from Broadcom to distribute and support its Agile Operations Division software across 13 Asia Pacific markets, running from Nov 1, 2026 to Nov 2, 2031. The appointment was made through Broadcom subsidiary VMware International Unlimited Company and expands Infomina's existing mainframe software business.

Why it matters

The appointment widens Infomina's role as a Broadcom distributor, which has held mainframe software rights since 2019 and was expanded across 12 markets in September. Any extension beyond the initial term will depend on negotiations and mutual agreement between the two parties.

Infomina reported Q1 FY2027 net profit of RM10.30 million, up 26.76% year over year, on revenue of RM76.19 million, up 39.6%, with an outstanding order book of RM614.2 million as at end-August. The company's shares closed unchanged at RM1.81 on Monday, valuing the group at about RM1 billion, and the extension terms beyond 2031 remain unresolved.

The players

Broadcom

Broadcom is a large American semiconductor and infrastructure software company whose VMware unit and mainframe software businesses are among the largest in the enterprise technology sector.

Infomina Bhd

Infomina Bhd is a Malaysia-listed technology company that distributes and supports enterprise software, including Broadcom's mainframe products.

The details

Under the appointment, Infomina will distribute and support Agile Operations Division software, which adds solutions for enterprise automation, network operations and IT management, across Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Sri Lanka and India. The deal builds on Infomina's role as a Broadcom distributor since 2019.

Timeline

  1. 2019: Infomina began distributing Broadcom mainframe software.

  2. September 2026: Broadcom expanded Infomina's rights across 12 markets.

  3. Nov 1, 2026: The five-year appointment begins.

  4. Nov 2, 2031: The five-year appointment ends.

Market Landscape

The appointment extends Broadcom's September decision to expand Infomina's mainframe distribution rights across 12 Asia Pacific markets, deepening a regional partner model for its enterprise software portfolio. It positions Infomina to carry a wider product line, including automation and IT operations tools, across a broader set of Asia Pacific markets.

Shareholders of Infomina should weigh the new five-year revenue stream against the company's current valuation of about RM1 billion at a share price of RM1.81. The appointment's renewal terms after 2031 are not yet set, so long-term earnings visibility beyond that date remains uncertain.

The takeaway

Distribution appointments of this length give partners predictable revenue, but renewal terms are the real test of their value. Investors should watch how Infomina handles negotiations ahead of the 2031 expiry.
