Culture Shift

This story follows the pattern set by the ASPCA's nationwide pet adoption promotion initiatives in prioritizing the visibility of shelter animals. Such efforts reflect a broader societal shift toward prioritizing pet adoption over purchasing animals from commercial breeders.

Residents interested in adopting Dante can contact the shelter to arrange a meeting and discuss the requirements for bringing him home. Adopting a pet through the city program directly supports local animal welfare efforts and provides a home for a dog in need.

The takeaway

Bringing a young, socialized dog into a household requires consistent training and commitment to ensure a smooth transition for both the pet and the family. Potential adopters should consider their lifestyle and activity levels to ensure a long-term match with a energetic breed mix.
