Thirty-one-year-old Julius Randle has joined the Brooklyn Nets roster after being acquired in a four-team trade. The move brings the veteran forward to a franchise currently looking to improve upon a 20-62 record from last season.

Why it matters

The acquisition provides the Nets with an experienced veteran leader to anchor a squad that has struggled to find consistency. Randle intends to focus on mentoring the team's growing core of young players as the organization seeks to exit a three-year stretch of heavy losing.
