Panthers Added Anthony Tyus III to Practice Squad

The Carolina Panthers have signed running back Anthony Tyus III to the team's practice squad. This move follows the club's decision to waive the 23-year-old player from the active roster on Tuesday.

Why it matters

The signing allows the organization to maintain roster flexibility while keeping the young running back within the team infrastructure. It reflects standard procedural adjustments for the squad as the NFL season progresses.

Anthony Tyus III recorded 127 kick return yards on five attempts during his two appearances for the Panthers in the 2026 season.

The details

The team filled a practice squad vacancy by signing Tyus, who originally joined the league as an undrafted free agent in spring 2025. He previously played collegiate football at Northwestern University from 2021 to 2023 and at Ohio University in 2024.

2024: Tyus played at Ohio University.
Spring 2025: Tyus entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent.
October 8, 2026: The Panthers announced the signing.

Season Trajectory

This transaction underscores how teams leverage practice squads to manage depth and personnel during the season. It allows the franchise to retain familiar players while navigating the constraints of an active 53-man roster.

Fantasy managers should note that Tyus is no longer on the active roster, limiting his immediate availability for game-day snaps. His role is now focused on scout team development rather than primary rotation duty.

The takeaway

Roster fluidity is a standard feature of the professional football season as clubs balance current performance with long-term depth. Fans should anticipate ongoing adjustments as coaches refine their lineups throughout the year.
