Do you believe international high school basketball leagues provide more value than traditional domestic circuits?

Sunrise Christian Academy has officially joined the newly formed ATLAS international high school basketball league. This global competition includes teams from the United States, Serbia, Italy, Germany, Canada, and Lithuania.

Why it matters

Joining this league provides the Wichita-based program with a platform for international competition. It marks a significant step for the school, which has previously produced notable NBA talent.

The ATLAS league features 11 teams drawn from the United States, Serbia, Italy, Germany, Canada, and Lithuania. These squads will compete in a circuit spanning multiple continents through the 2027 season.

The players

Sunrise Christian Academy

This Wichita-based preparatory basketball program is an established pipeline for professional basketball prospects.

SPIRE Academy

This institution is one of the three founding organizations responsible for launching the ATLAS international basketball league.

Prolific Prep

This high school basketball program serves as a founding partner in the creation of the global ATLAS league.

IMG Academy

This sports training institution is a primary founder of the new international basketball circuit.

The details

Founded by SPIRE Academy, Prolific Prep, and IMG Academy, the league aims to centralize high-level prep basketball on a global stage. Sunrise Christian Academy joins this international field alongside various programs from North America and Europe.

The inaugural season begins on November 11, 2026, in Bradenton, Florida.
The league season will conclude in March 2027.

Season Trajectory

The formation of this league marks a departure from regional-only scheduling, signaling a shift toward centralized international competition for top-tier prep programs. This move alters the competitive balance for Sunrise Christian Academy by forcing the team to navigate a schedule across three countries.

The league schedule requires international travel for the Wichita-based team, creating a rigorous mid-season logistical challenge. Games played in Arizona, Ohio, and overseas will affect player availability and travel fatigue throughout the winter months.

The takeaway

The move to an international circuit significantly expands the level of competition for players at the Wichita academy. Athletes and recruiters should monitor how these cross-border matchups impact the national scouting landscape over the coming season.
