The Idaho Lottery has officially begun ticket sales for its 2026 $1,000,000 Raffle. This holiday game marks its 20th anniversary with a total of 500,000 tickets priced at $10 each.

Why it matters

The annual raffle serves as a hallmark of Idaho holiday traditions, drawing significant public participation due to the high volume of prizes relative to the number of tickets sold. Celebrating its 20th year, the game continues to be a staple for the Idaho Lottery.

Tickets are priced at $10 each, with two top prizes of $1,000,000 and secondary awards of $100,000 and $50,000. Winners are chosen from over 21,500 total prizes distributed throughout the sales period.

The details

The raffle includes daily $1,000 prizes for the first 20 days of sales and additional $1,000 awards for every 25,000th ticket purchased. Claimants of these early milestone prizes must visit the Idaho Lottery office in Boise to finalize their winnings.

Ticket sales for the raffle began on October 21, 2026, at 4:00 a.m. MT.
Winning raffle numbers will be announced on December 29, 2026, at 12:20 p.m. MT.

Culture Shift

This event reflects the ongoing popularity of state-run seasonal raffles as a cultural holiday tradition in Idaho. It mirrors a broader societal trend where limited-run, high-probability lottery games gain traction over standard daily drawing formats.

Players can purchase tickets at participating lottery retailers across Idaho until the 500,000-ticket inventory is exhausted. Those who win daily or milestone prizes should prepare to visit the Idaho Lottery office in Boise for claim processing.

The takeaway

Participants are encouraged to buy tickets early as the 500,000 tickets are expected to sell out before the end of the year. Keeping track of daily and milestone prize announcements can provide additional chances to win beyond the final drawing.
