Rock band Cheap Trick is cancelling all 2027 tour dates after choosing to take a break from performing. The band was originally set to headline the first day of the 29th annual Thunder by the Bay festival in Sarasota on February 19, 2027.
Why it matters
The cancellation stems from the band's decision to pause touring after many years on the road. Festival organizers are now actively seeking a replacement act to fill the headline slot for the opening night of the event.
The 29th annual Thunder by the Bay festival is scheduled to run from February 19 through February 21, 2027. The event is slated for the Sarasota Fairgrounds with other performances already confirmed for the weekend.

Industry Dynamics
The cancellation reflects a broader trend of legacy acts choosing to pause long-standing touring cycles. This shift forces event organizers to navigate tighter booking schedules as they compete for high-draw headliners in a saturated festival market.
Attendees who purchased tickets for the February 19 show should monitor official channels for potential updates regarding the replacement act. The festival schedule for February 20 and February 21 remains unchanged for ticket holders.
The takeaway
Legacy acts occasionally pause touring to prioritize personal time after decades of performing. Fans should check official festival portals regularly when headliner changes occur to stay informed about updated schedules.
