Super Chix has permanently closed its Cordova Mall restaurant in Pensacola, Florida, with closure signage posted on the doors as of Oct. 30. The exterior Super Chix logo has been removed from the building.

Why it matters

The Pensacola location at 5100 N. Ninth Ave. was Florida's only Super Chix since opening in 2023. Its closure leaves Florida with no Super Chix restaurants, while the closest remaining location is in Hoover, Alabama.

The players

Super Chix

Super Chix is a chicken sandwich restaurant chain whose Pensacola location was its first in Florida.

Raising Cane's

Raising Cane's is a national fast-food chain known for its chicken finger meals, which opened across the parking lot from the closed Super Chix.

The details

Permanently closed signage was posted on the restaurant's doors inside Cordova Mall, and the exterior logo has been removed. Super Chix offered about a dozen chicken sandwich variations, used fresh never-frozen chicken, and made house-churned frozen custard for shakes, Cold Fusions and custard cups.

Market Landscape

The closure comes as Raising Cane's expands into the same retail corridor, placing a competing chicken chain directly beside the former Super Chix. The move illustrates how fast-casual chicken concepts compete for the same parking-lot real estate in Pensacola.

Pensacola diners who visited the Cordova Mall Super Chix will need to look elsewhere for its chicken sandwiches, with the nearest location now in Hoover, Alabama. Shoppers in the area will find Raising Cane's in the space across the parking lot at 5110 N. Ninth Ave.

The takeaway

Closures and openings in the same retail space can happen quickly, so diners who rely on a favorite chain should check locations before visiting. Super Chix fans in Florida now need to travel to Alabama for the brand.
