Universal Orlando teased an all-new indoor coaster coming to Dark Universe, the Universal Monsters-themed land within Epic Universe. Construction on the attraction is underway, with an opening planned in the years ahead.
Why it matters
The teaser signals continued expansion of Epic Universe, which opened in May 2025 with five themed lands. It adds a new ride to a land already featuring the dark ride Monsters Unchained and the roller coaster Curse of the Werewolf.
Epic Universe contains five themed lands, and Dark Universe currently houses the dark ride Monsters Unchained and the roller coaster Curse of the Werewolf. The new indoor coaster's opening date, name, and technical specifications have not been announced.
The players
Universal Orlando
Universal Orlando is the theme park resort in Orlando, Florida, operated by Universal Parks & Resorts, which also runs Universal Epic Universe.
Danny Elfman

The details
The new attraction will be an indoor coaster immersing guests in an all-new story inspired by the Universal Monsters franchise. Dark Universe also includes themed dining experiences and a score composed by Danny Elfman.
Timeline
May 2025: Universal Epic Universe opened to the public in Orlando.
November 2026: Universal Orlando announced the new indoor coaster teaser.
Years ahead: The new indoor coaster is planned to open.
Seasonal Patterns
Universal's rollout of Epic Universe follows the same playbook it used when The Wizarding World of Harry Potter opened at Universal Orlando in 2010, adding major attractions after a land's debut. Teasing new rides early keeps the resort competitive with Walt Disney World, which has pursued similar expansion cycles in Central Florida.
Visitors planning a trip to Epic Universe can expect the Dark Universe land to remain a draw as new attractions are added. Because no opening date has been set for the indoor coaster, guests should plan around the rides currently operating.
The takeaway
Expanding a themed land with new rides rather than opening everything at once gives repeat visitors a reason to return. Watch for official Universal Orlando announcements for the indoor coaster's opening details.
