Disney announced that Ahsoka Season 2 will premiere on January 20, 2027, with Rosario Dawson returning as Ahsoka Tano. The announcement comes as Disney+ tests faster release patterns for some of its shows.

Why it matters

The premiere date gives Star Wars fans a fixed target while Disney+ experiments with releasing popular shows with multiple episodes at launch. The change could help the streaming service manage a crowded release calendar.

Disney's announcement sets a premiere date of January 20, 2027, roughly 74 days out. Disney has not yet disclosed how many episodes will drop at launch or the weekly rollout for the season.

The players

Disney+

Disney's streaming service, which is testing faster release patterns for some of its series including Marvel's VisionQuest and Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3.

Rosario Dawson

Actress who stars as Ahsoka Tano and returns to the role in the second season of the series.

Hayden Christensen

Actor who returns as Anakin Skywalker in Ahsoka Season 2, reprising a role he first played in the Star Wars prequels.

The details

Ahsoka Season 2 will return with Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano, Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren and Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn. Disney+ is testing a faster release pattern for some shows, which could shape how the new season is rolled out.

February 19, 2027: Star Wars: A New Hope returns to theaters for a limited re-release.
January 20, 2027: Ahsoka Season 2 premieres on Disney+.
May 28, 2027: Star Wars: Starfighter arrives in cinemas.

Industry Dynamics

Disney+ has moved from one-episode weekly drops, such as The Mandalorian, toward two-episode premieres like The Acolyte and Marvel's VisionQuest. The streaming giant's changing rollout approach reflects a broader effort by studios to fine-tune how series are released amid intense competition for subscribers.

Viewers will be able to stream Ahsoka Season 2 on Disney+ starting January 20, 2027. The exact number of episodes released at launch has not yet been announced, so subscribers should watch for the official schedule.

The takeaway

Fans planning to watch Ahsoka Season 2 should mark January 20, 2027 on their calendars and watch for Disney's episode schedule. Keeping an eye on Disney+ release announcements will help viewers plan around the season's rollout.
