Amazon Orders Savage Son Starring Chris Pratt
The new series will again follow former Navy SEAL James Reece, played by Chris Pratt, and is based on Jack Carr's third novel in The Terminal List book series.
Updated on Nov. 6, 2026 in Television
Amazon has ordered Savage Son, a series starring Chris Pratt as former Navy SEAL James Reece. The project is produced by Amazon MGM Studios, MRC, and Civic Center Media.
Why it matters
The order extends The Terminal List franchise beyond its original series and signals continued investment in the property on Amazon's streaming platform. Savage Son is more likely to serve as a standalone project rather than a new season of The Terminal List.
The Terminal List debuted in 2022 and was followed in 2025 by The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, starring Taylor Kitsch on Amazon. No viewership, budget, or ratings figures were disclosed for either title or for Savage Son.

The details
Chris Pratt will again play James Reece, the former Navy SEAL character at the center of the franchise. Savage Son is based on Jack Carr's third novel in The Terminal List book series.
Timeline
2022: The Terminal List originally debuted on Amazon.
2025: The Terminal List: Dark Wolf aired on Amazon.
October 21, 2026: The Terminal List Season 2 is scheduled to debut.
Industry Dynamics
Savage Son continues a pattern in which streaming services expand successful book-based franchises into spin-offs and standalone series rather than only renewing flagship titles. The approach mirrors how Amazon has built out The Terminal List with the 2025 release of Dark Wolf.
Viewers will be able to watch Savage Son only on Amazon's streaming platform once it premieres. No release date, episode count, or pricing details have been announced yet.
The takeaway
Franchise expansion through spin-offs can extend the life of a successful property without requiring a new season of the original series. Viewers following The Terminal List should watch for official Amazon announcements on Savage Son's premiere date and format.
What happens next
The Terminal List Season 2 is scheduled to debut on October 21, 2026, which will be the next major milestone for the franchise.
