Acer has released the Aspire X 16, a 16-inch laptop, in the United States. The device includes a Core Ultra X9 388H processor and Intel Arc B390 graphics.

Why it matters

The release brings an OLED-equipped 16-inch laptop with long rated battery life to the US market. Its current 16 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD configuration reflects the initial lineup available to buyers.

Acer's specifications list an 84 Wh battery rated for up to 24 hours in official video playback tests, a 2.8K OLED panel with a 120 Hz refresh rate, and 500 nits peak SDR brightness. Independent verification of the battery rating and the eventual expansion beyond 16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage remains unaddressed.

The players

Acer

Acer is a Taiwan-based computer hardware company that sells laptops, desktops, and displays worldwide.

The details

The Aspire X 16 uses Intel's Panther Lake architecture, which Acer positions as a power-efficiency improvement, alongside a Core Ultra X9 388H processor and Intel Arc B390 graphics. The laptop currently ships with 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD.

The Tech Race

The Aspire X 16 is built on Intel's Panther Lake architecture, which Intel is positioning as an efficiency gain over earlier generations in the competitive laptop market. Its release places Acer among the OEMs bringing that platform's power-efficiency claims into mainstream 16-inch laptops.

Buyers choosing the Aspire X 16 get a 16-inch OLED display and a rated 24 hours of video playback on an 84 Wh battery at 1.6 kg. The current configuration caps memory at 16 GB and storage at 512 GB, which may matter for heavier workloads.

The takeaway

Buyers who need extended unplugged use or a bright OLED screen should weigh the Aspire X 16's rated battery life and display specs against its current 16 GB and 512 GB configuration limits.
