WWE has asked Rey Mysterio to stop using superhero-inspired gear after the promotion received cease and desist letters. The gear had been part of his look throughout his nearly 30-year career, including early use of a Superman-style outfit in AAA.
Why it matters
The request removes a signature visual element from one of wrestling's most recognizable multi-time World Champions. It also shows how licensing claims over character imagery can reach performers' ring identities.
Rey Mysterio has wrestled for nearly 30 years and is a multi-time World Champion. The source does not detail what replacement attire, if any, he will use.
