Kate Madden, 18, daughter of Nicole Richie and Joel Madden, posted photos of an undead bride Halloween costume on Instagram on Saturday night, captioned "I do." Richie commented that she is "very obsessed."
Why it matters
The post offers a glimpse into how the children of well-known parents are sharing family life publicly as they reach adulthood. Richie has recently spoken about parenting teenagers and social media, making the family's online presence a topic of interest.
The costume included blue face paint, a wedding veil pinned to the top of the head, and a lacy white crop top and miniskirt. Richie and Madden married in December 2010 after four years together, and it is not stated whether the costume references any real event.

Roadmap
Richie has spoken publicly about raising teenagers in the age of social media, including on Today in April 2024 and The Drew Barrymore Show in December 2024. Kate Madden's post fits that pattern of celebrity children sharing adult milestones online while their parents comment openly on them.
The post shows how Halloween costumes can borrow bridal imagery for a playful, low-cost look that requires only face paint, a veil and white clothing. For readers planning their own costumes, the look is achievable with thrift-store pieces.
The takeaway
Playful bridal costumes can be a simple, inexpensive way to take part in Halloween, using a veil, white lace and bold makeup. Families sharing such moments online can keep the tone light by treating them as seasonal fun rather than milestones.
