The post arrives as the New York Yankees evaluate their pitching staff options ahead of the 2027 season. Montas is attempting a return to form following surgery.

Montas exercised a $17 million player option after his two-year, $34 million contract with the New York Mets. He made nine appearances for the club before undergoing Tommy John surgery.

The takeaway

Players often use social media to indicate their preferences during free agency periods. Montas remains an uncertainty for teams until he demonstrates his ability to pitch at a competitive level.
