Delos Data has unveiled its Apollo data interface chiplet, a new hardware component designed to provide I/O capabilities for CPUs and memory endpoints. The company also confirmed it raised more than $100 million in venture capital to support its expansion.
Why it matters
The Apollo chiplet aims to resolve latency issues caused by current switches that bridge devices with disparate communication semantics. By automating load balancing, topology management, and failure handling, the technology seeks to optimize data flow between complex compute environments.
The Apollo chiplet supports throughput of over 30 Tbps, while near-packaged optical interface chips are rated for 10+ Tbps. Additionally, the technology delivers more than 400 Gbps in card throughput for CPUs.
The players
Delos Data
This technology company produces cluster management software and develops specialized semiconductor chiplets.
The details
Apollo chiplets manage critical tasks like load balancing and failure handling for connected endpoints. Delos Data also maintains the Mosaic cluster management software and the Morpheus platform, which allows customers to perform topology co-design between pre-silicon and lab environments.
Timeline
Asterion server sampling is scheduled for late Q4 2026.
Near-packaged optical interface chips are expected to appear in 2027.
Apollo chiplets are slated for integration into XPU products by 2028.
The Tech Race
This move follows a pattern set by the Universal Chiplet Interconnect Express (UCIe) standard, which aims to create unified communication protocols for heterogeneous chiplet architectures. It positions Delos Data within a crowded field of firms racing to replace legacy switch systems with high-speed interface alternatives.
The introduction of Apollo chiplets will eventually improve data throughput and reduce latency in high-performance computing environments. These hardware advances could lead to more responsive data center capabilities and increased operational efficiency for enterprise cloud users.
The takeaway
The development of specialized interface chiplets marks a shift toward more integrated hardware management in modern computing clusters. By bridging the gap between design and production environments, firms like Delos Data are attempting to lower the barrier for high-performance topology co-design.
