Mouser Electronics has begun stocking the new Allegro MicroSystems AHV85003 and AHV85043 isolated silicon carbide gate driver chipset. This component utilizes a Power-Thru design to transmit PWM signals and bias power, removing the need for auxiliary supplies.
Why it matters
The chipset simplifies complex power conversion designs by reducing system components and overall bill of materials requirements. It is also AEC-Q100 Grade 1 qualified for use in demanding applications requiring high reliability.
The chipset features separate 6 A output gate pull-up and pull-down pins and maintains stable operation within a -40°C to 125°C temperature range. It incorporates both primary and secondary overtemperature protection.
The players
Mouser Electronics
A global distributor of electronic components that serves over 650,000 customers across 223 countries and territories.
Allegro MicroSystems
A designer and manufacturer of power and sensing semiconductor solutions for industrial and automotive applications.
The details
The design employs external transformers to enable a self-powered isolated gate drive solution, providing a bipolar output with an adjustable negative rail. By eliminating traditional bootstrap circuits, engineers can achieve greater efficiency and streamlined circuit board layouts.
Timeline
Mouser Electronics began stocking the chipset on September 23, 2026.
The Tech Race
This release reflects an industry-wide transition toward more integrated power semiconductors that replace traditional, bulky auxiliary power components. As silicon carbide technology gains ground in automotive and industrial sectors, firms are racing to optimize gate drive efficiency and board density.
Engineers and product designers can now source these chipsets to reduce component counts and improve the reliability of their power conversion systems. The immediate availability allows for faster prototyping of next-generation industrial and automotive electronics.
The takeaway
Designers should consider integrating self-powered driver chipsets to streamline system architecture and improve thermal management in compact applications. Leveraging these components can significantly decrease the complexity of power supply hardware for high-performance systems.
