Black Clover Season 3 Cancelled
Season 2 Part 2 will serve as the series finale, adapting the Judgment Day arc.
Updated on Nov. 8, 2026 in Animation
The anime adaptation of Black Clover has been cancelled for a third season, and Season 2 Part 2 will conclude the series. Black Clover Season 2 premiered October 3, 2026, after a hiatus that began in 2021 following Episode 170.
Why it matters
The anime went on hiatus in 2021 after the manga nearly caught up with the adaptation and Studio Pierrot underwent major restructuring. Ending the series with Season 2 Part 2 means viewers will not get a continuation beyond the Judgment Day arc.
Season 2 comprises 26 episodes across 2 cours, with Studio Pierrot adapting roughly 4 to 5 manga chapters per episode. The manga stands at 393 chapters, and the anime's last episode before the 2021 hiatus was Episode 170.
The players
Studio Pierrot
Japanese animation studio that produces the Black Clover anime and underwent major restructuring that contributed to the 2021 hiatus.
Yuki Tabata
Japanese manga artist who created Black Clover and has no plans for new manga content apart from a November artbook.
The details
Black Clover Season 2 Part 1 covers the Spade Kingdom Raid arc and is expected to end around January 2027. The second cour, labeled "Final Season," will adapt the Judgment Day arc, and creator Yuki Tabata has no plans for new manga content beyond a November artbook.
Timeline
2021: Anime goes on hiatus after Episode 170.
2025: Black Clover return officially announced at Jump Festa.
May 1, 2026: Manga chapter 392 released.
October 3, 2026: Black Clover Season 2 premieres.
October 31, 2026: Season 2 Episode 5 released.
Franchise Trajectory
The 2021 hiatus after Episode 170 left the anime behind the manga, and the decision to end with Season 2 Part 2 closes that gap rather than resuming a longer run. Season 2 Part 2 is the final cour of the adaptation, so the series concludes on the Judgment Day arc.
Viewers can watch Season 2 with 26 episodes split across 2 cours, with Crunchyroll providing streaming availability in the United States. The series will end with Season 2 Part 2, so fans should expect no further seasons beyond it.
The takeaway
Black Clover's planned conclusion ends a five-year gap in the anime, so viewers following the story can expect a complete arc rather than an open-ended continuation.
What happens next
Black Clover Season 2 Part 1 is expected to end around January 2027, and Season 2 Part 2 is teased to return in 2027.
