Co-op Knowledge Portal Launches With 37,000 Resources

IICADD at HEC Montréal has launched PortailCoop, a digital platform giving free access to more than 37,000 resources on co-operatives in 36 languages. The launch follows a memorandum of understanding the International Cooperative Alliance and IICADD signed in November to strengthen sharing of co-operative knowledge.

Why it matters

The platform is designed to make knowledge on co-operatives and mutuals more visible, accessible and shared across borders. It aims to strengthen links between researchers and co-operative practitioners worldwide.

PortailCoop includes more than 10,000 organisational reports, over 500 practical tools and around 900 audio and video resources. Registration is free and open to all users.

The details

PortailCoop is a digital platform developed and managed by IICADD at HEC Montréal, bringing together resources from more than 4,100 organisations. Co-operative organisations and individuals are encouraged to contribute knowledge to the platform.

Timeline

Roadmap

The launch extends the International Cooperative Alliance's 'Practice, Promote, Protect' strategy running from 2026 to 2030. It builds a shared global knowledge base for co-operatives that practitioners can draw on across that period.

Registration for PortailCoop is free and open to all users, so anyone interested in co-operative history or practice can sign up at no cost. Co-operative organisations can also contribute their own knowledge to the platform.

The takeaway

Free multilingual access to co-operative knowledge is now available worldwide, with resources in 36 languages drawn from 84 countries. Readers interested in the field can use the platform to research or learn about co-operative models.
