Ressence Launches Type 10 DN Dark Night
Ressence's limited Type 10 DN pairs an oil-filled display with its own in-house RW-04 caliber.

Ressence released the limited-edition Type 10 DN Dark Night watch, a run of 100 pieces powered by its in-house RW-04 caliber. The brand unveiled the model at WatchTime New York 2026 on October 16.
Why it matters
The watch is the first Ressence to pair an oil-filled display with the brand's own movement, marking a shift from earlier models that relied on other calibers. Its in-house design gives the brand more control over its core mechanism.
The RW-04 caliber offers a 60-hour power reserve, up from 36 hours in earlier oil-filled models, and beats at 28,800 vph (4 Hz) with 252 components. The watch carries a CHF 45,000 price excluding taxes, roughly $54,000.
The players
Ressence
Ressence is an independent Swiss watchmaker known for its oil-filled, crownless watch designs built around its own movements.
Concepto
Concepto is a Swiss specialist manufacturer that produced the RW-04 caliber in collaboration with Ressence.
The details
The Type 10 DN uses two sealed chambers: a ROCS 10 display module floats in oil above the RW-04 movement, which sits in air. Micro-magnets on a disc driven by the movement pull a matching disc in the oil through a thin titanium membrane, while an expansion membrane compensates for changes in oil volume. The 41.5 mm case is polished grade 5 titanium with a dark blue DLC coating, has no crown, and is wound and set from the caseback.
Timeline
October 16, 2026: Ressence unveils the Dark Night edition at WatchTime New York 2026.
November 2026: Type 10 DN availability begins through selected retailers.
Culture Shift
The Type 10 DN extends Ressence's earlier oil-filled Type series, which ran on shorter 36-hour power reserves. Moving the display onto an in-house caliber continues the brand's push toward fully self-developed movements.
Buyers considering the Type 10 DN should note the CHF 45,000 price excluding taxes and the 100-piece limit, with availability beginning through selected retailers in November 2026. The 50-meter water resistance and 82-gram weight are practical factors for daily wear.
The takeaway
For collectors, the Type 10 DN shows how an independent brand can build an oil-filled display around its own movement with a longer power reserve. Watching how limited runs like this sell may signal demand for other in-house designs.
