Spine Displays Digital Albums as Wall-Mounted Vinyl
The gunmetal touchscreen unit shows streaming albums as spines on a shelf, with Kickstarter backing offered at £849.
Updated on Nov. 2, 2026 in Music — General
Spine is a wall-mounted touchscreen that displays digital music albums with their spines showing, like records on a shelf. Tapping an album reveals its cover art, and pressing play streams it through the user's existing audio setup.
Why it matters
The device gives digital music collections a physical, visual presence in the home rather than living only on a phone or screen. Its Kickstarter price and planned general sale price offer a clear point of comparison for buyers considering it.
The Kickstarter backing price is £849 (roughly $1100 or AU$1600), rising to £949 at general sale in July 2027. The unit measures 76cm wide, 19cm tall, and 8cm deep, and the extraction does not report any units sold or shipping dates.
The players
Spine
A wall-mounted digital music display product that shows streaming albums as physical-style spines and is being offered through Kickstarter.
The details
Spine is made of brushed gunmetal aluminium and connects to the user's setup by a single cable. It supports Apple Music, Tidal, and Spotify, with Spotify requiring the third-party service TuneMyMusic to import collections.
Timeline

July 2027: Spine scheduled to go on general sale at £949.
Culture Shift
Spine extends the long-standing collector habit of displaying albums on shelves into a digital format, reflecting a shift from owned physical media toward streamed libraries. It positions a streaming-based collection as something that can still be seen and handled at home.
Readers interested in Spine can back the Kickstarter at £849 or wait for the £949 general sale in July 2027. The device works with Apple Music, Tidal, and Spotify, though Spotify users need TuneMyMusic to import their collections.
The takeaway
Buyers weighing Spine should compare the £849 Kickstarter price against the £949 general sale price and confirm their streaming service is supported before committing. The unit's size, 76cm wide, should be checked against the intended wall or shelf space.
What happens next
Spine is scheduled to go on general sale at £949 in July 2027, when the Kickstarter backing price will no longer apply.
