Axonius announced general availability of Axonius Cyber-Physical Assets, extending its Asset Cloud to cover industrial controllers, building systems, medical devices, cameras, and sensors. The release follows an early-access announcement in April and treats cyber-physical assets as a distinct asset class.

Why it matters

Many IoT and OT devices lack an agent or do not report into an IT console, leaving security teams with blind spots. Passive discovery through a network tap is positioned as a way to surface these devices without the risk of broad active scanning on fragile industrial systems.

The Network Connections feature maps device-to-device communication with real-time and 30-day historical visibility per connection. The Device Intelligence Hub runs targeted scans only on OT devices with missing profile data, based on protocols observed, and the extraction does not report detection accuracy figures.

The players

Axonius

Axonius is a cybersecurity company that builds an asset management platform used by enterprise security teams to inventory and manage their digital and physical assets.

The details

Axonius Cyber-Physical Assets detects devices via a passive network tap and adds operational role and impact to risk context alongside exploitability and CVSS scoring. Separately, Post-Quantum Cryptography Readiness ties every certificate and TLS endpoint to its asset and owner, and Context360 shows the change history behind each asset record.

Timeline

  2. November 2, 2026: General availability announced.

The Tech Race

The post-quantum readiness feature aligns with the NIST Post-Quantum Cryptography standardization effort, which is driving organizations to inventory cryptographic certificates before migrating to quantum-resistant algorithms. The move also positions Axonius to compete with other asset-management vendors as enterprises expand visibility from IT into operational technology.

Security teams gain a way to see IoT and OT devices such as cameras, sensors, and medical equipment alongside their IT assets. The post-quantum readiness feature lets administrators tie each certificate and TLS endpoint to a specific owner before cryptographic migration deadlines arrive.

The takeaway

Organizations that treat cyber-physical devices as a distinct asset class can close visibility gaps that agent-based tools miss. Starting an inventory of certificates and TLS endpoints now makes later quantum-resistant migration easier to plan.
