The three sets launch worldwide in January 2027 as part of LEGO's wave of confirmed 2027 releases.
Updated on Nov. 1, 2026 in Friendships
LEGO has revealed three original Friends sets for its January 2027 product wave: 42709 Pet Care & Play Center, 42718 Friendship Party Bus, and 42719 Heartlake City Shopping Mall. All three are designed for ages 7 and up and launch worldwide.
Why it matters
The release adds to the 21 official LEGO sets confirmed for 2027 and extends the Friends theme, which is aimed at younger builders and centers on social play and everyday storytelling. Its worldwide launch means the sets reach buyers across markets at the same time.
The Pet Care & Play Center costs $49.99 with 366 pieces, the Friendship Party Bus costs $59.99 with 676 pieces, and the Heartlake City Shopping Mall costs $99.99 with 843 pieces. About 10 more Friends sets reportedly planned for January 2027 leaked in August but remain unannounced.
The players
LEGO
LEGO is the Danish toy company known for its interlocking brick building sets, which include the long-running Friends theme aimed at younger builders.
The details
The Pet Care & Play Center includes a slide, seesaw, cat tree, outdoor grooming station, pet beds and a removable reception desk. The sets are set in Heartlake City and launch worldwide in January 2027.
Timeline
August 2026: LEGO began detailing its 2027 lineup with eight Super Mario sets at Gamescom.
August 2026: About 10 additional Friends sets reportedly planned for January 2027 leaked but were not officially announced.
January 1, 2027: The three Friends sets launch worldwide.
Culture Shift
The three new sets extend LEGO's Friends theme, which since its 2012 debut has emphasized social play, friendship and everyday storytelling over traditional building-only themes. Continued additions to the line show the company keeping that narrative-driven approach as it moves into 2027.
The sets are priced from $49.99 to $99.99, so families can choose a smaller or larger build depending on budget and how much time a child will spend assembling it. Piece counts from 366 to 843 mean the smallest set is a shorter build while the largest offers a longer project.
The takeaway
Parents shopping for young builders can compare piece counts and prices across the three sets to match a child's build time and interests before the January 2027 launch.
What happens next
The three Friends sets launch worldwide in January 2027, and LEGO's confirmed 2027 lineup will continue to be detailed ahead of that date.
