HoYoverse has announced a Nintendo Switch 2 port of its cozy life simulation game Petit Planet, which releases on PC, iOS, and Android on December 4. The Switch 2 version has a 2027 release window.
Why it matters
The announcement positions Petit Planet as a potential rival to Animal Crossing on Nintendo's platform, which has seen a new Switch 2 edition of that franchise released in January. The multi-platform rollout extends the game's reach to handheld and docked console players.
Petit Planet launches December 4 on PC, iOS, and Android, while the Nintendo Switch 2 port is slated for a 2027 window with no specific date set. The Switch 2 port's gameplay footage in the trailer supports both docked and handheld play, though the reception of its gacha elements after the December release is still unknown.

Culture Shift
The arrival of Petit Planet on the Nintendo Switch 2 follows the January release of Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, signaling that cozy life simulation games are becoming a focal category for the new console. No brand-new Animal Crossing game has been announced for the Switch 2, leaving room for competitors like Petit Planet to establish themselves on the platform.
Players can access Petit Planet on PC, iOS, and Android starting December 4, offering a mobile option alongside desktop play. Switch 2 owners will need to wait until the 2027 window for the console version, which supports both docked and handheld play.
The takeaway
For players weighing their options, Petit Planet offers a cross-platform cozy alternative that can be tried on mobile or PC before the Switch 2 port arrives. Waiting for the console version may make sense for those who prefer handheld play on the new hardware.
What happens next
Petit Planet launches on PC, iOS, and Android on December 4, with the Nintendo Switch 2 version following in 2027.
