Game Freak has introduced a new Mystery Gift event offering players a Spewpa in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. This character evolves into one of sixteen distinct Vivillon patterns.
Why it matters
The distribution celebrates the official release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Mega Dimension. This event provides an immediate way for players to expand their collection in the Kalos-based game.
Players are limited to one Spewpa per save file and must complete one hour of gameplay to unlock the Mystery Gift feature. The game maintains a 9/10 review score since its release in the setting of Lumiose City, Kalos.

Timeline
October 29, 2026: The Spewpa Mystery Gift distribution begins.
November 18, 2026, 5:59 p.m. PST: The Spewpa Mystery Gift distribution ends.
Culture Shift
This release follows the established pattern of utilizing the long-standing Mystery Gift infrastructure to drive player engagement during new game launches. These digital distributions capitalize on the nostalgia cycle for regional Pokémon variants, maintaining long-term interest in the franchise.
Players can obtain the character regardless of their Nintendo Switch Online membership status, provided they have at least one hour of gameplay. Since the distribution is limited to one per save file, users should ensure they are using their preferred file before redeeming.
The takeaway
Players looking to complete their Vivillon collection should redeem the gift before the November deadline. Because the patterns are randomized, collectors may need to coordinate with other players to trade for any missing variations.
