Pyxis Oncology is set to present phase 1 clinical trial results for its antibody-drug conjugate, micvotabart pelidotin, on November 19, 2026. The presentation will take place during the 38th EORTC-NCI-AACR Symposium on Molecular Targets and Cancer Therapeutics in Barcelona, Spain.
Why it matters
Micvotabart pelidotin targets the extradomain-B of fibronectin, which is selectively overexpressed in the tumor microenvironment of solid tumors. By targeting this mechanism, the drug aims to inhibit angiogenesis and induce an anti-tumor immune response.
The clinical trial evaluates micvotabart pelidotin as a monotherapy for recurrent and metastatic head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, which has received FDA Fast Track Designation. Results will be presented under abstract number 3LBA.
The players
Pyxis Oncology
A clinical-stage company focused on developing therapies for solid tumors.
The details
The drug is designed to kill cancer cells through mechanisms including the bystander effect and immunogenic cell death. Pyxis Oncology is also evaluating the candidate in combination with pembrolizumab.
Timeline
November 18, 2026: The symposium begins with two preclinical research poster presentations in the Exhibition Hall.
November 18-20, 2026: The 38th EORTC-NCI-AACR Symposium on Molecular Targets and Cancer Therapeutics occurs in Barcelona.
November 19, 2026: An oral presentation of phase 1 clinical data takes place in Room 111 + 112.
Health Landscape
The 38th EORTC-NCI-AACR Symposium on Molecular Targets and Cancer Therapeutics acts as a primary international forum for industry research. Pyxis Oncology follows a pattern set by other biopharmaceutical firms in using this specific scientific gathering to unveil clinical progress.
Patients currently tracking treatments for recurrent and metastatic head and neck squamous cell carcinoma may gain insight from the reported phase 1 outcomes. These findings represent early-stage progress in the drug development pipeline rather than an immediate change in standard care.
The takeaway
The presentation highlights progress in the development of therapies that target specific tumor microenvironments. Stakeholders in oncology research will watch these initial clinical findings to evaluate the potential of the drug in future combination treatments.
