Wizards of the Coast will bring back God Packs beginning with the Nauctis: The Sunken Realm set in February 2027. These specialized packs contain 14 rare or mythic rare cards and are designed to improve the overall pack-opening experience for players.
Why it matters
The reintroduction of God Packs aims to increase player excitement by replacing common cards with higher-value content. Wizards of the Coast also expects that reducing card counts in some products will lower production complexity.
Regular boosters now feature a 1-in-1,000 chance for a God Pack, while Collector Boosters offer a 1-in-300 probability. Additionally, the chance to pull a foil rare or mythic rare in standard boosters will rise from 7% to 10%.

The details
Regular booster packs will no longer include foil commons and uncommons, while Collector Boosters will contain three fewer cards total to accommodate the new God Pack features. These God Packs consist of 14 rares or mythic rares, with Collector versions specifically including foil lands alongside those rare selections.
Timeline
February 2027 marks the return of God Packs with the Nauctis: The Sunken Realm set.
Universes Beyond sets are projected to receive God Pack support in 2028.
Roadmap
The rebranding of the Play Booster to a standard Booster Pack marks a shift in how Wizards of the Coast segments its product lines for both competitive and casual collectors. This change updates the product architecture of the previous Play Booster model to prioritize higher-value pull rates.
Players should note that tournament events now require an immediate pause if a God Pack is opened during a match. Additionally, collectors will see reduced card counts in Collector Boosters, impacting the total number of foils typically found in those products.
The takeaway
Players can anticipate a shift toward higher-value card distributions starting in 2027. It is recommended that players prepare for these changes by familiarizing themselves with updated tournament protocols regarding rare pack openings.
