The Tech Race
The Sudo fits into a broader resurgence of dedicated digital audio players that prioritize high-quality playback over the multi-functional nature of smartphones. By opting for a physical control wheel, New Matter is positioning itself against the touch-only interfaces that have dominated the industry for the last decade.
Users can secure a device early by providing a $50 refundable reservation deposit. Once available, the $249 player provides a dedicated platform for audio listening that avoids smartphone notifications and utilizes expandable storage for large music libraries.
The takeaway
This device offers a balance between tactile physical controls and the digital convenience of modern streaming services. It is best suited for listeners who prefer a distraction-free audio experience over the integrated capabilities of a standard mobile phone.
