Introduction
North America is the third-largest continent in the world, consisting of 23 countries, including Canada, the United States, and Mexico, among others. Canada is the largest country in North America in terms of land area, covering almost 10 million square kilometers. With a population of over 38 million, it is also one of the most sparsely populated countries in the world. Its population density is only about 4 people per square kilometer. In contrast, the United States has a population of over 331 million, making it the third most populous country globally. Its population density is around 35 people per square kilometer, which is over eight times that of Canada.
Mexico, the southern neighbor of the United States, is the third-largest country in North America, covering over 1.9 million square kilometers. With a population of around 130 million, Mexico is the most populous Spanish-speaking country globally, and its population density is around 66 people per square kilometer. However, compared to its neighbors to the north, Mexico is still relatively sparsely populated.
Apart from Canada, the United States, and Mexico, the other countries in North America have much smaller populations. For instance, the Caribbean island nation of Cuba has a population of around 11 million, while the Central American country of Guatemala has a population of around 17 million. The population of some of the smallest countries in North America, such as Saint Kitts and Nevis, Dominica, and Saint Martin, is less than 100,000.
